The Bourbon Alliance - #FreeTheSpirit Campaign

The UK and US have traded their whiskies tariff-free across the Atlantic for over a quarter of a century. However, in 2018, a 25% ‘rebalancing tariff’ was imposed on all imported Bourbon and other Whiskey from the US. The tariff led to a 42% drop in UK imports of Bourbon and cost UK consumers an additional £68m. Lodestone formed the Bourbon Alliance with Brown-Forman, Beam Suntory and the Wine and Spirits Trade Association to take decisive action to protect customers and support the UK’s hospitality sector. The alliance called on the UK and US Governments to remove the retaliatory tariffs.
