Calling time on cyber-flashing crime – creating a new offence in England and Wales

Grayling worked with the dating app and social network Bumble to provide women in England and Wales with a much-needed change in law. We built an influential cross-party coalition for change, with an irrefutable evidence base and a powerful message that the government and media couldn’t ignore. We undertook an extensive contact programme to engage officials, ministers, shadow ministers and parliamentarians, and it was this inspiring work which led government to accept our call for cyberflashing to be criminalised. In March, it was included as an offence within the government’s flagship Online Safety Bill: a huge victory for online safety.
